For mutster101:
Apparently, this Giant Lego Asgard flagship is for sale. (Of course, you'd have to pick it up in Illinois.)
If you spoke for a particular book, books, or magazines, they were mailed this afternoon. If I was going to give you your books at Arisia, I sent them by post today. However, I did *not* mail the unclaimed books to the person who was interested in them. The amount of lifting and carrying I can do is still limited, so those will have to wait until tomorrow or Wednesday.
Shipping charges for all packages were negligible--I won't be sending any PayPal requests. Consider it a late Christmas gift, or something. As long as you get some enjoyment from them, it's all for good.
I will be posting another book list shortly, including a fascinating Jackson Pollock biography, Such Desperate Joy. Since I wrote some copy for this one, the cover is missing, as is the blank page that was just before the back cover. (The print and layout people were never concerned with the condition of the book--just their jobs. They often wrote notes in the books instead of on post-its.) Anyway, the overall condition is really quite good, save the absent cover. I highly recommend it. (I am no great fan of Pollock's work, so that's saying something.)
I made this rum cake that theldara linked to the other day, and oh, my god. Fabulous.
The only change I made was to omit the nuts and substitute a slightly lesser amount of chopped dehydrated apricots. You can see them on the top. I still sprinkled the brown sugar on them, too. Also--used dark rum rather than light.
In an herculean feat of re-branding, the folks at PETA have declared that fish are now to be known as Sea Kittens. (Because who would want to hurt a sea kitten?)
In addition to being unable to draw an accurate analogy, they seem to have done rather poorly in biology class. Of course an appropriate name for "baby sea kittens" is not "caviar", any more than the unfertilized eggs in my ovaries should be called "babies".
The PR team that conceived this campaign should be tarred with salmon roe and dragged through the streets of a fishing village at night behind a beat up black Econoline van covered in BillyBasses that are all singing Love Me Tender.
I love animals, but I hate PETA.

(And if you're curious about the bikers' organization, here's Rescue Ink's home page, complete with pit bulls. Fantastic.)
(To clarify: the quote in the subject line was printed on little business cards that some of the Hell's Angels gave to stranded motorists after they helped them get back on the road. The card would also specify the chapter that the Angel or Angels in question belonged to.)
Mr. Moo likes the fountain that TBD got him for Xmas.
(He has not put any colored mice in it. Yet.)

(Oh! Forgot to mention--photo was taken with the iPhone app Moonlighter. It makes for steadier shots and is designed to work well in low-light situations.)
Home Despot is selling very inexpensive 18 gallon plastic storage containers for $3.44 each, which is quite a good price. They're made by Best Plastics for Home Depot's Eco Options line. They are black with black lids, and made from 99% recycled plastic. The lids snap on at the handle. They're light but sturdy, and seem to stack well without compressing the lids on the lower containers. There is not a lot of weight in mine, so I can't say how they'll hold up if they're filled with, say, bricks. (Or something equally weighty.)
I bought 5, and will probably buy a few more to use in the attic and basement.
(The product code appears to be BP200778, bar code 9111800227. I did not see them online, but then, they were just putting them out.)
